Catastrophic Health Incident Response Training

This training session focuses on creating the ability to attain the necessary surge capacity and surge capability to manage patients’ needs during times of a catastrophic incident. The program is a must for emergency responders, health and medical preparedness plans, hospital staff and emergency management.

Risk Communication

This training session is designed to provide participants with guidelines for interacting with the news media. A brief presentation, participants will take turns playing the role of reporters and interviewees in a mock news conference.

Psychological First Aid (PFA)
Location: TBD

This is a high-energy, scenario-based training program for all disaster response professionals exposes the realities of emotional pain and suffering caused by medical and psychological casualties.

A psychological screening and stabilization system designed to accommodate the fullest range of casualties provides skills critical to comforting and protecting the most people in the shortest period of time. The application of PFA in multiple settings rounds out training designed to help you serve survivors, responders and their families.

To achieve optimal function in time of disaster, PFA emphasizes Safety, Function and Action through individual and organizational strategies for staff support, stress inoculation, and resilience-building.

Speakers:
Co-presented by Dr. Shultz, Dr. Ramirez and Dr. Allen, this special version of PFA developed specifically for the 2007 Homeland Security Conference is an educational experience like none other (except perhaps their Surge, Sort, Support course in the adjoining room).

SURGE, SORT, SUPPORT is high-energy, scenario-based training program for all disaster management and disaster healthcare professionals exposes the realities of hospital surge caused by medical and psychological casualties.

An expanded triage system designed to accommodate the fullest range of casualties provides skills critical to saving the most people in the shortest period of time. The application of psychological support in multiple settings rounds out training designed to help you serve patients and their families.

To achieve optimal function in time of disaster, SURGE, SORT, SUPPORT emphasizes resilience through individual and organizational strategies for staff support, stress inoculation, and resilience-building.
